Staff and Bios



Rebecca Sahm Mahayag, LCSW-C is a licensed clinical social worker who specializes with adolescents, young adults and families. Rebecca graduated Magna Cum Laude from The University of Maryland, College Park, with a B.A. in Psychology. Rebecca went on to earn her Master's Degree in Social Work from The University of Maryland, Baltimore. During her time at the University of Maryland, Rebecca was trained in individual, group and family psychotherapy at Chestnut Lodge Psychiatric Hospital. She is currently finishing her second year of post-graduate training at the Washington Center for Psychoanalysis for in-depth psychodynamic psychotherapy. Rebecca has been in private practice for the last three years. Prior to working in private practice, Rebecca provided clinical interventions to children, adolescents and families in a variety of settings. She served as a therapist to adolescents living in a Residential Treatment Center and established in-school therapy services to select schools in the City of Rockville. Rebecca has also worked as a therapist in a school for children with emotional disturbances. In addition to providing therapy, Rebecca has extensive experience with assessment and evaluation. She worked as an assessment social worker for Child Welfare Services, investigating allegations of child physical abuse, neglect, child sex abuse and child fatalities, and for the Circuit Court of Montgomery County as a court evaluator, providing in-depth child custody evaluations to the Court. Rebecca is a certified forensic interviewer and has testified as an expert witness in the areas of child neglect, child custody, child sex abuse and investigations, and individual therapy.
